Legion Maria Sunday Mass Readings Second Sunday after Pentecost, 2/6/2024

Introit

The Lord has become my protector, and he brought me forth into a large place: he saved me, because he was well pleased with me.

Ps: I will love you, O Lord, my strength: the Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer.

V. Glory …

Collect

Grant us, O Lord, both a constant love and fear of thy Holy name: since you never withdraw your protection from those whom you solidly ground in your love. Through…

(Here at the Collect, at the Secret, and at the Post communion, is made a commemoration of Corpus Christi)

Epistle 1 John 3:13-18

Dearly beloved: Wonder not if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not, abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother, is a murderer.  And you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in himself. In this we have known the charity of God, because he has laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. He that has the substance of this world and shall see his brother in need, and shut up his bowels for him: how does the charity of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word, nor in tongue, but in deed, and in truth.

Gradual

In my trouble I cried to the Lord, and he heard me.

V. O Lord, deliver my soul from the wicked lips and a deceitful tongue. Alleluia.

V. O Lord, my God, in thee have I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me. Alleluia.

Gospel (Luke 24: 16-24)

At that time: Jesus spoke this parable to the Pharisees: A certain man made a great supper, and invited many, and he sent his servant at the hour of the supper to say to them that were invited, that they should come, for now all things were ready.  And they began all at once to make excuse. The first said to him: I have bought a farm and must and must go out and see it: I pray thee, hold me excused. And another said: I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to try them: I pray thee, hold me excused. And another said: I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

And the servant returning told these things to the lord.

Then the master of the house being angry, said to his servant: Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring hither the poor, and the feeble, and the blind, and the lame. And the servant said: Lord, it is done as thou has commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said to the servant: Go out into the highways and hedges; and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. But I say unto you, that none of those men that were invited shall taste of my supper. CREDO

V. Glory…

Collect of the Trinity

Collect of the first Sunday after Pentecost

O God, the strength of such hope in thee: mercifully hear us calling on thee, grant us the assistance of thy grace; that in observing thy commandments, we may please thee, both in will and deed. Through…

Epistle (Romans 11:33-36)

O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments, and how unsearchable his ways! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counsellor? Or who has first given to him, and recompense shall be made him? For of him, and by him, and in him are all things: to him be the glory forever. Amen.

Gradual

Blessed art thou, O Lord, who beholds the depths, and sits on the cherubim.

V. Blessed art thou, O Lord, in the firmament of the heavens, and worthy of praise for ever. Alleluia, Alleluia.

V. Blessed art thou, O God, the God of our fathers, and worthy of praise for ever. Alleluia.

Gospel   (Mathew 28:18-20)

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going, therefore, teach all the nations: Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. CREDO
